Encyclia tampensis (Lindley) Small. Florida Butterfly Orchid. Phen: May-Sep (-Apr). Hab: Epiphytic on a wide variety of trees, and in a wide variety of hammocks, pine flatwoods, sloughs, strands, swamps, and other mesic to wet habitats. Often abundant on the limbs of Quercus virginiana with Pleopeltis michauxiana. Dist: N. FL peninsula (Levy, Putnam, and Flagler counties) south to s. FL; Bahamas; slightly disjunct on n. end of Cumberland Island, GA.
